What We Believe

"What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us." - A.W. Tozer

Core Beliefs

The following are the core beliefs of North Bay Church of Christ based on the foundational truths taught in the bible. All of our teaching and ministry is rooted in and flows out of these biblical doctrines.

The Bible

The Bible, as the divinely inspired and flawless Word of God, stands as the ultimate authority guiding our lives. It possesses an inherent power and wisdom that transcends time and space, offering us profound guidance and truth in every aspect of our existence. Embracing its teachings with reverence and unwavering devotion, we find not only guidance but also profound transformation and fulfillment in our journey of faith.

God

We believe in one eternal God, existing as God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit – the divine Trinity. This fundamental truth forms the cornerstone of our faith, affirming the unity and triune nature of our Creator across time and space.

Jesus Christ

In a breathtaking display of divine love, God sent forth His beloved Son, Jesus Christ, to redeem humanity through His sacrificial death and triumphant resurrection. This profound act of grace heralds the promise of Christ's imminent return, when He will gather His faithful followers to dwell with Him for eternity. With hearts ablaze with hope and anticipation, we await the glorious day of reunion with our Savior, united in everlasting joy and fulfillment.

The Church

The church is the body of Christ on earth, empowered by the Holy Spirit and God’s Word to continue the task of reaching the lost and disciplining the saved, helping them to become fully devoted followers of Christ.  Members of the body are to identify their God-given skills and abilities and use them to glorify God and bless others. Even though we are not saved by our good works, we are saved for good works.  Congregational unity and love are high priorities.

Salvation

Salvation, a divine grace bestowed upon us freely by God, finds its ultimate expression in the sacrificial offering of Jesus Christ upon the cross, a sublime redemption for our sins. Though we all falter and fall short, the promise of salvation remains accessible to each soul willing to embrace it with trust and repentance. Through the transformative act of baptism into the forgiving embrace of Jesus Christ, we embark on a journey of spiritual rebirth, welcomed into the eternal embrace of God's mercy. In the tender exchange of our trusting faith, God gifts us with the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit, illuminating our path with divine guidance and unfathomable love.
